FOR THE LOVE OF "SNACKING"

If your answer is yes, trust me you're not alone. I guess almost everyone gets the same feeling, which is where snacking comes in. A snack is a small portion of food that is usually eaten between main meals such as Lunch, Breakfast and Dinner.

Now I know you might be thinking snacking isn't really a good practice or that snacks are usually unhealthy. Well I come bearing good news 😊😊, snacking isn't necessarily bad for you provided that it's healthy and you're within the average calorie range for snacks between meals which is in the range of  300-800 kilo-calories daily.
Over-snacking daily can cause weight gain no matter whether the snack is healthy or unhealthy, so you do not want to have more than required. Snacking can be healthy because it prevents you from overeating when its time for your main meal. Through snacking, you can make healthier choices, keep a more stable blood sugar throughout the day etc.........
Trick to healthy snacking??

Avoid foods that have "high" calories, fat and sugar. You want to go for foods that have rich nutrient, protein, fiber and low-fat. These kinds of food would satisfy your hunger immediately and last you till your next meal.

Some healthy options include:

. Low-fat protein milkshake or smoothies 😼😼
. Fat free milk or yogurt which can be topped with fruits
. Fruits and Veggies
. Nuts
. You can try baking or grilling foods instead of frying e.g chips.
. Popcorn (A great source of fiber)

At times we might crave the snacks that are not so healthy and that's okay (Guilty as well😁😁). However, we should try keeping the unhealthy ones limited and go for the healthier option as often as we can. For example, you can go for some healthier chips instead of the regular ones, sandwiches with lower carbs etc.

Snacking properly??

Snacking becomes unhealthy when you start eating more of foods that have "high" calories, fat and sugar.
Also, when you start eating for reason other than hunger such as:
Eating cause you're bored
Eating cause you're tired
Stress eating etc.

When you these, you tend to eat more than required and also consume more calories than required, and these go against some of the main benefits of snacking which are not overeating, and meeting your nutritional needs.
