Healthy drinks part 1--MIXED FRUIT SMOOTHIE
We all know water is one of the most healthiest choices for a drink, especially now it's summer, and since its calorie free and easily accessible. But sometimes, when we get away from the heat, we want to have a refreshing drink other than water and boom!!, we think "chilled soft drinks"(Am guilty as well)ππ. However, there are other healthier choices of refreshing drink we can have during this summer time and not restricted to only summer.
Smoothies are one of the refreshing healthy drinks. It is usually a thick drink, made with a blend of fruits or vegetables. Now I know you must be wondering, why smoothie and whats so special about it.
To begin with, the fact that smoothies are made from a blend of fruits and vegetables makes it a huge deal, because they are needed for a healthy diet. With smoothies, we are able to consume the necessary daily fruits and vegetables. However, too much of sweet fruits can create too much sugar so we have got to be careful with the blends in a smoothie.
Smoothies help with the digestion of food since it contains dietary Fiber. If you've experienced constipation or indigestion, you'll know the importance of properly digested food (And trust me you do not want to get constipated, speaking from experienceππ ). Similarly, the greens in smoothies such as kale, helps our body detoxify. They provide your body with the necessary nutrients to help with body building and radiant skin.
With smoothies, you can eat healthy and appetizing at the same time plus it can be consumed at any time of the day. Wanna know how to make it??πππ
Here's a quick recipe for my mixed fruit smoothie
Ingredients:
Sliced ripe banana
1/4 of a full water melon (Diced, with removed seeds)
1/2 cup of strawberry
2 Apples (Peeled back, and diced)
Kiwi
Vanilla essence
Plain yogurt
Direction:
Blend all the fruits and yogurt until it is smooth. The banana in this recipe is used as a sweetener, so you should add as many as you want depending on your taste. After blending, add the vanilla essence to give flavor. Put in some ice cubes or leave in the refrigerator to cool, then serve!!
Note: You can make any smoothie of your choice, with any fruit and vegetable, like theseππππ
